Tips for staging at home

If you’re thinking of selling your home, you’ll obviously want to consult with a home organization company or try to organize it yourself. The more presentable and attractive you make your home look, the better chance you have of selling it at a clever price. So, before you put the “For Sale” record up, here are some home staging tips to get you started.

First, you must remember that less is more. Get rid of all that clutter. Clutter only makes rooms appear smaller than they really are. You’ll want your potential buyers to see the best features in every room. This will not be possible if there is too much trash covering everything. If you don’t have enough closet space, rent a storage place to keep all your junk.

Another home staging tip is to make sure the exterior appearance of your home is presentable. Make sure your lawn is mowed and all the leaves in your yard are raked. Sweep your porch and sidewalk. Scrub the entrance and hallways. Make sure there is no trash in your yard. If you see any peeling paint on your porch or house, take the time to touch it up.

You should touch up the paint where needed, inside or out. And while you’re at it, super-glue any wallpaper that might be peeling off. If that doesn’t work, hang a beautiful picture over it. Make sure there are no holes or nails in the wall either.

You need to clean every inch of your house. Hire a friend to help you if you can’t do it all by yourself. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing the walls, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning all the mirrors, etc. It may sound cliché, but make sure your bathroom (especially the toilet) is spotlessly clean, too.

Home staging can be a lot of work, so you really should consider hiring someone to help you with cleaning, repairs, painting, etc. if you can afford to.
