kerala nightmare

Selflessly I left My Father and My Mother,
I left behind my Sisters and Brothers.
Leaving My beloved Family and giving up everything
And sacrificed everything to be the Follower of Christ
I put on hold, my dreams, my normal desires
Living in the middle of the world with no desire for your pleasure
Be a member of all families but not belong to any
God called me to save souls for Eternal Life.
I gave my life with all my heart to serve God and others.
Have a heart of charity and a heart of chastity
As a warrior and compassionate servant of God
I kept going, no matter the cost.

When Kerala’s floods swept away and destroyed homes and lives
There was no way to escape the destructive violent rains!
I wept and burst into loneliness and emptiness as My Brothers and Sisters in Christ fell everywhere.
Fighting to survive and save their lives from the floods that were taking
Those who survived the floods were scared emotionally and physically.

I saw how a mother cried for her children,
when he found out that his children had died.
I watched a father trying to hold back tears helplessly,
when their children fight and float in the floods
And when his house and his hard-earned estates were submerged in the water
I saw many people crying for food and their basic needs.
I saw the collapse of houses near my city
I saw buildings fall and fall to the ground.
I saw all the rain that caused flooding.
With the streets turning into mud walls.

I saw roads in flooded neighborhoods that looked like canals
I saw landslides that dragged the lives of many people and animals and trapped them for days.
I even saw running water in the flood relief camps
I saw that many people and animals died in flash floods.
I saw many more injured and others left homeless.
I saw roads, bridges, farms, houses, crops and cars destroyed
Water supply, electricity, internet, all communications were interrupted
And people struggled and suffered as a result.
I saw floods that brought many diseases and infections.
I saw Sometimes bugs and snakes made their way into people’s houses and wreaked havoc.
I saw the tears of many people and their broken hearts
I saw many pregnant women and small children being lifted up by helicopters to save them.
I saw many sick and elderly people carried by the rescuers in their chairs on their shoulders.
I saw people in misery, homeless, helpless and afraid.

I fell to my knees and cried out to God and said a prayer day and night
I prayed to God for his mercy in people’s lives
And to stop the rain and save the people of Kerala
I cry for the light of God to shine until the darkness of the floods disappears
I fervently prayed to live, to see the next day and save some life and offer help.
I was also one of those who helped the flood victims deal with an overwhelming catastrophe.
God truly was our refuge and strength, our very present help in tribulations.
Thank you Lord, you never fail us and you never leave us alone.
