It may not seem possible that a 3 year old can save a man’s life, I mean they are too small to perform the Heimlich maneuver and not strong enough for CPR, so what happens? I’ll tell you what it gives. Since my 3-year-old daughter decided to incarnate in this world, she has saved her father’s life. Not for any of the techniques mentioned above, but simply for being herself. Simply being herself has made her father want to be a better man and this has saved her life.
You see, before she incarnated into this world and even before I lived with Dad full time, I made a commitment to drink, and not just a drink after work, but to drink myself to sleep most nights. I also took it upon myself to swallow cancer sticks as if it were some kind of game. Then when I found out that she was going to live with me, I just couldn’t see myself doing these things any longer. Suddenly these practices that had consumed my life for over a decade seemed stupid and mundane. I was just not going to be a bad example for my daughter. Not me, other people can do whatever they want, but I didn’t.
So I stopped both practices. This saved my life, really? When I look back, I have no doubt that this is the case. In fact, I have come to a very strong knowledge that my daughter decided to come to this earth when she did. I really believe that she came here to save me from myself. There is no doubt that children teach parents as much as we teach them.
