What is the best tablet under $ 400?

Since the launch of the original iPad a couple of years ago, the market has been flooded with new and improved tablets. All the competition can be confusing and you might be wondering: “What new tablet should I buy?”, while still being affordable. I think the best new tablet that stays under $ 400 is the new one Samsung galaxy tab 2.

The Tab 2 was originally released on April 22 (7-inch version) and May 13 (10.1-inch version), and it has been a hotly debated topic ever since.

First of all, here’s a quick rundown of the Tab 2’s specs:

  • Runs on Android 4.0 operating system
  • 10.1 inch screen
  • 16GB hard drive. Expansion up to 32GB with microSD
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0
  • Dual-core processor with 1 GHz frequency
  • 1 GB RAM

Enough with the technical stuff. What you want to know is what the Tab 2 can do. Of course, you can watch or listen to your favorite movies, TV shows and music on the tablet. One cool thing you can do is use the device as a remote control for your home entertainment system. This means that you can use it to control your TV, blu-ray player, DVR, etc. One of my favorite features is how you can use Samsung’s content sharing service, called AllShare, to stream files from your tablet to your TV.

Since Galaxy Tab 2 runs on the Android operating system, you will have access to thousands of apps from the store. One of the preloaded applications on the device is Samsung Media Hub. This application will allow you to access new movies and TV shows at your fingertips. The service works in a similar way to Netflix or Amazon Instant Video. When new shows or movies are available, you can buy them on your tablet and then play the file later on your TV, tablet, or smartphone.

If you are concerned about having only 32GB of storage space on the Tab 2, you can rest easy knowing that you receive a free 1-year subscription to Dropbox when you buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Dropbox is an online file hosting service. so you can store up to 50GB of your files online and access them from anywhere.

All of these features make it a great new tablet to buy, and all for under $ 400. The 10.1-inch screen is priced at $ 399. You can buy the Tab 2 on a 7-inch screen for $ 249. The 7-inch has many of the same specifications as the 10.1-inch version. However, you will be limited to 8GB of initial hard drive space on the 7-inch version. Oh, and of course you only get a 7-inch screen. I’d say go for the 10.1-inch Tab 2 if you plan on gaming and watching movies. And really, isn’t that where most of the fun in owning a tablet comes from?

I hope you enjoyed this Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 review!
