Paxos – the Greek island with country houses for a quiet holiday!

If there is peace on earth with an incredibly beautiful natural environment, then it is none other than Paxos. The Greek island in the Ionian Sea is the smallest with a population of about 2,500.

If you love traversing quiet places, then this is the best tourist destination for you with its beautiful scenery, pebble beaches, olive groves, steep cliffs, calm ocean waters, and secluded villas.

Some of the villas are abandoned, while others are owned by local people who rent them out to visitors. There is no airport, so the only way to get here is by ferry. You can hire a water taxi or a ferry from Corfu that will drop you off at Paxos’ main port, Gaios. And here begins your quiet excursion to this beautiful Island.

You can feel the freshness and purity of nature everywhere on this island. The clear horizon and the blue water are enough to outline the natural charm and glory of this island. It is really an amazing feeling when you are going for a long walk with your beloved and the paths surrounded by olive trees help you to make your walk romantic.

When you go for a walk on the pebble beaches, you can feel the serenity that spreads on the beach, in the water and in the sky. Looking at the clear horizon, lying on the beach side with your partner really feels wonderful. You can feel like you are in heaven, where no one disturbs your privacy and peace.

In addition to the beaches and olive groves, you can go for a romantic lunch at a traditional tavern. The island is rich in nature, history, culture and tradition. The perfect epitome of cultural, historical and architectural beauty is available here in the churches, museums and taverns. These traditional taverns are very few and all are located near the ports. You can feel the tranquility of the water at your feet while you have lunch or dinner with your partner.

There is a myth about the discovery of the Island. The sea god Poseidon is said to have invented this island as a peaceful love nest. And here you can find this peace even after centuries.

The centuries-old settlement has not changed either. There are no artificial glares of pubs, shopping malls, water parks available here. There are only pebbles, olive trees, cliffs, coves and calm waters with some abandoned villas, churches and museums. The inhabitants live in the houses that prove the Greek architectural settlement in its real meaning.

Instead of guesthouses and hotels, tourists stay in villa apartments when they come to this island, because you will hardly find hotels and guesthouses on Paxos. Despite its small periphery, there are several villas with enough space and various amenities.
