Today men and women work more closely than ever before: they occupy the same space, move in the same social circles, have more or less the same position when it comes to morality. Seduction is the new game – the more forbidden, the more exciting – and promiscuity is on the rise.
It’s no surprise then that while 70% of men admit to indulging in illicit affairs, women are not far behind, with 65% admitting that they, too, have cheated on their partners at one point or another.
Now, that’s a startling statistic and it would certainly make you wonder how fling-proof your relationship really is…especially if you’re starting to get this nagging feeling that something isn’t quite right in that area.
Contrary to popular belief, men are actually very perceptive. So if he feels a pang in his stomach, here are some nudges in the right direction to tell him whether or not he has reason to be alarmed:
1. She bought a new set of sexy lingerie… and you’ve never seen it.
For a woman, the beginning of an affair is not unlike the first days of any relationship, the most exciting part being how her new boyfriend makes her feel sexy and wanted. To fuel that flame, she’s going to want to look her best. If your girl is cheating on you, overindulging in a makeover could be a piece of the puzzle.
But the most obvious evidence will be in the lingerie department. Running up the bill for some lacy Victoria’s Secret items? Get suspicious if you’ve seen the bill but not the sexy underwear. Or at least, you haven’t seen it in her while you’re together.
2. She takes her cell phone everywhere with her. Everywhere.
Obviously, she’s waiting for the call from Boyfriend No. 2. But there’s more to it than that. The first flush of romance is always the sweetest and it is this kind of attention that tempts ladies to stray.
That’s why, if they get flattering text messages from the “other guy,” they’ll want to savor it for all it’s worth, which is to say, they won’t delete those incriminating messages until they absolutely have to. Yeah, even if it means they would have to be extremely possessive of their cell phone, it’s pretty obvious.
3. She is always looking out for you.
She wants to know where you are and especially where you will be at such and such an hour. Do you think that’s sweet? She thinks again. If your girlfriend is suddenly very interested in the smallest details of your daily itinerary, she may be scheduling hers around yours. She just couldn’t risk bumping into you while she’s spending the afternoon with Guy No. 2.
4. But she doesn’t want you to watch her.
She seems very interested in how you spend your day, it would seem logical to return the favor and show some interest in her, right? Wrong, if she is cheating on you.
You’ll notice this in the way she answers your question: she’ll be defensive (stammering her excuses) or offensive (accusing you of not trusting her, and variations on the same line of argument).
5. I used to be crazy about you in bed. She used to be.
Has the passion cooled? Could be. But most likely, you have spent that passion with someone else. Is fall? Most likely Women have such a flair for drama that it’s easy to believe they are all born actresses.
But when it comes to sex, all of her acting skills evaporate. She might be torn between not wanting you and not wanting you to find out, especially if you’re “a really nice guy who doesn’t deserve this from her.”
Sure, your girlfriend might still go to bed with you once she runs out of excuses, but you might also notice some weird things that bother you about making love.
I was doubting? Was she put off by your ardor? Are your eyes closed all the time? Did she call you by another pet name? Did he reject your attempt to snuggle afterward?
The signs are there my friend. You can choose not to see them or you can choose to use that organ between your ears and take control of the situation before they make you an even bigger fool than you already have been.
