Boost your visualization, part 1

When using creative visualization, there are several key steps you can take to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Most people know that it is important to enter a state of relaxation before visualizing. This is accomplished by slowing the breath, closing the eyes, and calming the mind. When I say “calm the mind”, I mean to exclude random thinking.

In other words, your thoughts will be actively directed by you, towards something specific.

A common place to focus your thoughts is on your breathing. As you inhale, focus on the air entering your body and gently and slowly let the air escape as you exhale. After spending a few minutes concentrating on your breathing, you should feel a sense of “stillness.”

From this stillness, you will now introduce the object of your visualization and then add the key elements to enhance the vision.

In today’s issue, we will discuss the power of adding excitement to your visualization.

For some, adding emotion to visualization may seem difficult, however this skill can be easily mastered when you know how to “trick” your mind into producing emotion when instructed to do so. We accomplish this by actively using our memory.

For example, imagine you want a new sports car. Not just ANY sports car, but let’s say a BMW 550i. Hope that owning this car will bring you certain feelings, such as joy, pride, euphoria, etc.

We want to link these feelings to a clear mental image of the car.

Now think of a time when you felt joy. As for me, I’m thinking of a wild roller coaster at Disneyland. As the ride slowly climbs up the steep incline, I begin to feel the nervous anticipation of what I know will come next … the fast, thrilling, thrilling descent that is part of every great roller coaster ride!

By closing my eyes and remembering that feeling, my mind is in a “peak” state that I can use to link to my visualization. While in this peak state, I now envision myself behind the wheel of my new BMW 550i-to-be!

With repetition and practice, you will be able to produce that exhilarating thrill every time you visualize the image of your car. And as you consciously direct your thinking and feeling towards the object of your desire (in this case, the BMW), your subconscious will work silently in the background, discovering all the ways to bring the object of your desire into your experience.

Take some time to think of a positive emotion that you can easily reproduce in your mind.

Really allow yourself to feel that emotion deeply and, in that moment, think of something that you love to accomplish, achieve, or acquire. Practice this technique frequently and see how quickly your wishes materialize into your reality.

In the second part of Supercharge Your Visualization, I will discuss how your physiology can have a massive impact on the manifestation of your dreams.

Until next time, get creative!
