If you have chosen India as your travel destination, here are some Great tips for traveling to India That would make your ride enjoyable and as smooth as possible.

As with any other trip to a foreign destination, do your research beforehand. Buy a travel guide that has the basics that will be useful to you for the duration of your trip. This includes climate, language, currency, food, transportation, and most importantly, culture. This will prepare you for the trip and help you make adjustments if necessary.

The proper clothing for traveling to India would be light pants. Shorts should be avoided so that you are safe touring the cities and towns of the country. A safe piece of advice when traveling anywhere is to always look for comfort before fashion. Wear comfortable shoes like sneakers or flip flops instead of heels or any other sandals that would hurt your feet.

There are many beggars in India. When you meet them, it is your decision to give them rupees or not. If necessary, give it to children just before getting in the car or you could get mugged. It is not a requirement to give them alms.

The black market is also prevalent in India. A good tip is to avoid them at all costs. You won’t get good deals and you might end up going to Indian jail.

When dining out, choose places that are full rather than empty. It’s okay to wait for a table rather than go to an empty place because this means that the food served at the place might not be as fresh. If you have a fussy tummy, choose safe food options like vegetables over red meat. Red meat can cause further damage to your body, especially if it is in poor condition and India does not have the best hospitals.

Be sure to take first aid supplies and medicines with you. It is safer to drink your own medicines than to buy them from Indian pharmacies. Don’t order Western food, except from big, well-known fast foods. This is because not everyone orders these types of foods, and they may not be as fresh.

To be on the safe side, drink soft drinks instead of water. If you must drink water, opt for bottled mineral water and make sure it is sealed. You can never know if the water in a foreign place is drinkable unless your stomach starts to turn.

Make hotel reservations in advance. This will take the worries out of having a place to stay and also prevent scams. Many people in India could be taken advantage of, especially if they see that you are a tourist.
