Camping 101: Top 10 Items You’ll Need

Some of us crave the outdoors, while others prefer to stay in a posh hotel that has room service and a great swimming facility. I must admit that both types of scenarios have their advantages; But there really is something special about stockpiling all the belongings you’ll need for a weekend camping trip.

What kinds of things do you think you need to have while enjoying the outdoors? We are all different when it comes to packing the things they consider crucial. Hell, some people pack enough for a lifetime when they really only need enough material for a few days. The size of your vehicle can also influence how many things you can bring. If you are driving a truck, you can usually load the box quite a bit unlike if you had a small vehicle where you can only load the trunk and potentially the rear seat if you are not occupying it.

Ten crucial items you must need for a successful camping trip are as follows:

1. Comfortable shoes – you never know where you will have to walk

2. Chocolate: trust me, if you don’t have it, you will wish you had it

3. Blanket, whether it is hot or cold; can protect you from mistakes

4. Flash light is crucial if you need a late night bathroom break.

5. Knife: to protect you from wild animals or cut the necessary things.

6. Lighter: to help you start a fire or scare away creatures.

7. Camera: to capture that beautiful sunset or that huge brown bear

8. Cell phone, if it has reception; only in case of an emergency

9. Water, even if you have other drinks; it is a requirement

10. Shovel to dig a fire pit and bury the fire.

Whether you’re camping just a couple miles from your office space in Tucson or across the state, these are all things you can have on hand. You never know what the great outdoors holds, so it’s always good to be prepared.

For those of you who normally like to stay in hotels; It would be wise to try camping. I think, for once, you can do without that nice bath and shampoo that gives you silky smooth hair. You never know, you might like it so much that you decide to sell your house and camp in the woods for the rest of your life. On the other hand, maybe you like it enough to make it a once-a-year family adventure.
