Why security is about a partnership

Think security, think security. Your life, investment, family, loved ones, community, state and country must be protected, must be insured. They are the ones that matter most to you.

But, as you know, security and insecurity start in people’s minds and spread over time to other people.

Therefore, you are expected to be careful what you think, say or do at any time, show off less, be unpredictable in your movements, carry less cash, and install security devices in your homes and offices.

Why? Well, the good or bad that we do to ourselves or to others sooner or later comes back to us even with interests.

Nothing is lost, it manifests itself at the appointed moment, either in this life or the next. This is an immutable law that cannot be manipulated.

Thieves, murderers, kidnappers, scammers, terrorists, militants, and other criminal elements are not ghosts.

They are human beings like you and me. They live and interact with us on a daily basis.

Therefore, to secure your valuables, you must partner with the police and other security agencies, quietly.

Do you know the phone numbers of the nearest police station in your area?

I can’t bet that some Lagos residents know the phone numbers of the closest police station in their areas.

Police are not magicians. You know your family and your neighborhood more than the best police detective.

The partnership between the police and the residents of the communities will do the trick. It could make the two of you work together to build security.

But the police need information, advice or clues about what is happening in your home, compound, street, community, state and nation.

Give them information as quietly as possible and you will be in a partnership agreement with law enforcement agencies.

Why am I writing this? Easy. In Lagos, Nigeria, suspected cultists have wreaked havoc of late. They killed and maimed with reckless abandon.

However, the various communities that these cultists codenamed Badoo boys have been operating have residents, community leaders, artisans, union leaders, police officers, and police stations.

In this age of rapid communication, whenever cultists attack in the dead of night, people are killed or maimed, and yet others don’t mind calling the police.

If crimes persist in a community for a long time, it is because the community is weak, it does not know what to do, it is an integral part of the crimes or the security agents in charge of the community have committed themselves.
