Ideas to decorate the living room

An effective decoration of a room depends largely on its size and shape and mainly on the purpose for which it is to be used. The decoration of the living room can be a simple or complicated task depending on the people who are going to use it. Simple if it will be empty most of the time except when the family is home; complicated if there is going to be a lot of entertainment. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be the other way around as well. It largely depends on the person who is going to decorate it. Another complication would be if a constant stream of children and pets came through the room.

The shape of the room also has a great influence on the type of decoration it can adopt. In a large room with lots of space, it can be segregated into some defined functional space. A small office space under the stairs or a separate formal dining room. The use of colors also has a revealing impact on the atmosphere of a room. If not used judiciously, a large room can feel small and cold; if used judiciously, a small room can feel larger and warmer. Wall art and other accessories in the living room set its mood. The more uncluttered the room, the more comfortable it will be to live and spend time.

Keep picture sizes small whenever possible, or perhaps a large one on one of the larger walls. Avoid substantially large images as much as possible. A two-seater sofa, instead of a three-seater, will create an impression of space. Mirrors are good accessories as long as they are placed in strategic positions as they refract light around the room.

Living room decorating ideas evolve and change from year to year and are sometimes set by leading interior decorators. But it’s best to look at what they have to offer and go with your instincts. It is “your” living room. And the choice of colors and accessories is so wide that it is almost impossible to know them. Understand what primary, secondary, and tertiary colors are, the color wheel, and the basics of mixing them, and you’ll be able to find hues that could enhance a paint store display.

Blue is the most preferred color. Think of blue and the first thing that comes to mind is the blue sky or the blue sea that instills a sense of serenity and tranquility in your mind; and a living room is just where such an atmosphere should prevail. It is up to your creativity, your imagination and your ingenuity how to decorate your living room. Close your eyes and imagine what kind of environment you would like to go to and plan your decoration accordingly. Once you’ve decided on the colors for the walls and ceiling, think about the colors for the doors and windows. Proceed step by step. Then comes the furniture that should complement the color scheme and finally comes the accessories such as mirrors, rugs, vases and flowers, etc.

This is the ideal way to shape your living room decoration ideas. Apply them to create a stunning living room that you and your guests can really enjoy.
