How to stop your dogs at home from fighting

Many people have problems having two dogs at home. Dogs sometimes don’t get along and will start to fight. It’s not just about game fights, but serious fights to the point where you start to worry about the health of your animals at home and you don’t want anyone to get hurt. There are things you can do to help this problem go away.

You must first understand the hierarchy of power between your two animals. One dog will have more of the alpha role while the other will be more submissive. You should focus on the alpha dog primarily for this problem as in most cases this is the dog that is getting into fights in most cases.

What you need to do is establish superior dog submission by showing both animals that you are the master and no one else. Make the dominant dog more submissive to you. Make him wait for food, wait for rewards and other things like this. This waiting period makes you realize that you are the boss.

Many times it is necessary to start with feeding the animals, since sometimes this is a source of aggression. Get each dog his own bowl and strictly enforce who gets which bowl. This is something that is best started from day one rather than having to re-teach the animals.

When the aggressive dog gets out of control, ignore him. Instead, take care of the submissive dog or the one that was attacked. This shows that this behavior is not correct. Don’t pet the aggressive dog after the fight is over. It shows that you do not approve of the actions.

If nothing works, try obedience training or even go to the vet, as there could be a medical source for this aggression.

Having dogs that fight everyone: dogs and pet owners. Follow these simple tips to help you restore peace and calm to your home.
