Does being a grandparent make you more qualified to lead?

Not long ago, I met a very nice lady who explained to me that unless someone had children and grandchildren, they didn’t really understand how to run an organization or deal with people properly and therefore they probably shouldn’t lead a group. . Also, she explained in so many words that being a grandmother gave her the true insight needed to lead and that anything else wouldn’t work, in her opinion. Well, let’s talk because I have another way of looking at all this, and I would say that “while your concept has some merit, it should not be a strict rule, it is too stereotyped for my blood.”

Sure, I think we can all agree that being a grandparent and going through this set of experiences takes to start a family, and then watching the family you raised raise the next generation gives you a completely different perspective on everything. It is as if you are watching a replay of history, while reminiscing about your own past. There should be a bit of humility and a common understanding to give people a little more space and not be so harsh in their judgments. Yes, we all agree with that.

However, just because a person was unable to control their hormones at some point in their life and was able to reproduce and create offspring, and those offspring were able to reproduce once again, it doesn’t mean that grandparents ever did anything special. There are 7 billion people on the planet, and many of them, most of them, will be in the same situation. Therefore, being a grandparent is not necessarily something as special as it might seem. This does not mean that we should not respect our elders, obviously we should, they came before us, they have lived their lives and they have some wisdom to leave.

However, automatically saying that all grandparents are great and perhaps wiser than many youngsters is not necessarily the case. There is a huge difference in IQ levels in our society, and even those who are bordering on an IQ below 80 can reproduce and become grandparents very easily. A college student who just graduated and has an IQ of 130 would perhaps make better decisions even without having those life experiences that low IQ grandparents produce more low IQ offspring. Automatically saying that grandparents are better suited to lead is the biggest bag of bullshit you’ve ever heard.

If all things were equal and you had a grandfather who was in good health, lots of energy and a high IQ, surely we should all listen to them, but I’m not so sure that just getting old and having the offspring produced makes anyone so great, and I base my findings on our general population in society and all the fools that pervade our civilization. Consider all of this and think about it.
